Events →Our Story
The seeds of this organization were planted more than ten years ago, with a flash of inspiration on a pair of skis.
Gina was skinning through the woods toward a backcountry hut outside Aspen, listening to Simon Sinek ask the question that would reframe everything: what's my why?
She had come to yoga by accident, literally. A 2007 car accident and concussion led her to leave journalism and take up the practice with devotion. It gave her back her life. Everything since has been an attempt to pass that gift along.
The answer arrived on that snowy track in the Hunter Creek Valley, and it became the belief this whole organization rests on.
2009
Aspen Yoga Society. Born from a desire for unity among the valley's teachers and studios.
2014
Aspen City of Wellbeing. After an auspicious meeting with Dr. Deepak Chopra, who became her mentor.
2016
The first Lead With Love. Hosted at The Aspen Institute to honor the Paepckes and their vision. The name stuck.
2017
A 501(c)(3). Lead With Love becomes an official non-profit.
2023
Care for Caregivers. Born with CASA of the Ninth and Aspen Community Foundation.
"Lead with Love is a vehicle for us all to be the change we wish to see, to choose love over fear each moment, and to have the awareness and support to do so. This is not an individual mission, it is our collective mission."
Gina Murdock, Founder
The Aspen Idea
Coined by Walter Paepcke, visionary founder of The Aspen Institute, the Aspen Idea holds that this is a place that can nourish and connect mind, body and spirit. He said, "Aspen is a place where the human spirit can flourish."
The intention Walter and Elizabeth Paepcke held for Aspen since the 1940s is alive in everything we do. There is magic here — in these mountains, in the forest, the rivers and valleys, and in the hearts of the people who choose to live here.

What We Stand For
Five values guide every program, retreat and gathering we hold.
Heart-Centered Leadership
verb
To be intentional and take ownership of our thoughts, words and actions. To know you have a choice, and to choose love.
We believe leading from the heart is the calling of our time.
Optimal Wellbeing
noun
To have a clear, resilient and healthy mind and body, a growth orientation to life's challenges, and a sense of meaning, purpose, connection and joy.
The wellbeing of one is connected to the wellbeing of all. We are therefore committed to accessibility and inclusion.
Service
noun
To support or help another and the planet, knowing that the wellbeing of one is connected to the wellbeing of all.
Be the change you wish to see by serving love instead of fear — through scholarships, subsidized programming and humanitarian projects.
Connection
noun
To create a bond, to be linked, or to feel like you belong.
We are wired to love, be loved and belong. It starts within, and extends to Spirit, to nature, and to one another.

To be most fully alive as the truest version of you.
Your joy is your genius. Do what you love. We use joy as our compass that we are on the right track in life.
